The famous Gimcrack Stakes at York’s Ebor Festival in August is the next target for the exciting ACTION POINT following his Listed success.
Archie’s son of Blue Point was an easy winner of the Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury on 21st July and will now head to the Knavesmire for the Group 2 feature over the same six furlongs.
“He holds an entry in the Gimcrack which will definitely be the next plan,” confirms Archie. “The quick six at York should be ideal for him so we’re looking forward to stepping him up in class.
“It was great to see Action Point confirm the promise that he had always shown us at home. He’s a very talented horse but Ascot just didn’t work out for him.
“He’d been galloping very well since then and put in an impressive performance in what looked a strong race at Newbury,” he adds.
Ridden by stable jockey Hollie Doyle, Action Point made all the running to finish a cosy length and a half ahead of Clive Cox’s better-fancied Shagraan with favourite Asadna back in third.
He had finished in the pack in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at the Royal Meeting when he lost a shoe mid-race but confirmed himself a Pattern class colt with a dominant display.
Hamad Rashed Bin Ghedayer’s colt, who hails from a speedy family, also won on debut on the All-Weather at Kempton Park in the spring before finishing second on Trials Day at Ascot in May.
