KYLIAN further enhanced his growing reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the sprinting division on the All-Weather when he rounded off a memorable 2024 for the stable with success at Lingfield Park on New Year’s Eve.
He flew home over the flying five furlongs under Luke Morris to repeat his win at Newcastle back in November – performances that book-ended a narrow defeat at Southwell. Scoring off a mark of 99, there should be more options for him over the minimum trip this winter.
Kylian registered our 90th win of the year, a tally spearheaded by Champion Sprinter Bradsell’s Group 1 double – the highlights of our 13 stakes victories at home and abroad.
While Sheikh Hamed Dalmook Al Maktoum’s gelding brought the New Year in with a bang, Layla Liz made it a very Merry Christmas at Saxon Gate with her Boxing Day success at Wolverhampton. Also ridden by Luke, our Leicester debut winner defied a penalty in resounding fashion in the colours of owner Chris Hirst.
Wiltshire Wonder became owner Jonny Allison’s 13th winner of the year when he landed a mile and a half handicap at Southwell the week before Christmas. It was the former John Gosden trained gelding’s second win for Archie on the Nottinghamshire Tapeta with Luke again in control.
The All-Weather Championship chasing jockey was also on board when Ever Hopefull made a successful stable debut at Wolverhampton on 14th December in the silks of the Mojave Thoroughbred Partners. Formerly with William Haggas, the daughter of Bated Breath finished well to take an extended nine-furlong fillies’ handicap.
Up at Newcastle, the nicely bred Kammeel took a seven-furlong nursery for Luke and owner Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, repelling the late challenge of the favourite in his first-time cheekpieces to overcome a rating of 70.
Back at Wolverhampton on 21st December, Laura Coughlan stepped into the limelight on Georginio who edged owners Middleham Park Racing closer to the century of winners they went on to achieve by the end of the year when he dug deep to take an extended nine-furlong handicap.
Meanwhile, our Cartier Champion Sprinter Bradsell added more lustre to a memorable year when he was acknowledged by the Racehorse Owners’ Association (ROA) as their Outstanding Sprinter of the Year at a ceremony early in the month. He is now nicely settled into his stallion duties at the National Stud in Newmarket.
