Passport At The Ready For Group Star Outbox

Hambleton Racing star OUTBOX, who took his career to new heights with a Group 2 success at Newmarket’s Guineas Festival, is poised to travel Europe this summer in pursuit of more big prizes.

The nine-year-old posted a personal best to dominate the William Hill Jockey Club Stakes and net over £70,000 for his proud owners, delighting his trainer Archie and the team.

“Winning such a prestigious Group 2 as the Jockey Club Stakes is just fantastic,” he says. “He’s an old warrior who decides what he wants to do and when he wants to do it but when he’s good he’s very good!

“Hollie Doyle gave him a brilliant ride on the front end. He enjoyed himself and kept pouring it on to beat a good field.

“He’s been an amazing horse to train and retains all his enthusiasm. We will look to campaign him in Europe this summer and these smaller field Group races really suit him.”

Outbox was the 50-1 outsider in the mile and a half feature but never looked like being overhauled as he repelled warm favourite Time Lock by two and a half lengths. It was the Frankel gelding’s eighth career win from 37 starts and takes his prize money haul past £750,000.

Hambleton’s racing manager Simon Turner adds: “We’re almost out of words to describe this legend. He’s a character who’s held in some affection at Saxon Gate and gave his owners another unforgettable day out at Newmarket.”

Since being bought for just 16,000gns at the autumn sales in 2020, Outbox has now won five races including a valuable contest in Qatar and beat St Leger winner Logician in the Listed Fred Archer Stakes at Newmarket.
