Prosewriter Another Exciting Recruit

Our link-up with Tom Biggs of Blandford Bloodstock has yielded a string of exciting winners from the horses in training sales over the years and former Godolphin gelding PROSEWRITER promises to add his name to an illustrious roll of honour.

Secured unraced for only 12,000 gns at the Tattersalls July Sale this year, the three-year-old son of St Mark’s Basilica made an instant impact by winning a six-furlong novice at Southwell on 26th October under newly crowned champion jockey Billy Loughnane.

The son of a Listed placed sprinter, he overcame a slow start to wear down Mick Appleby’s odds-on favourite Big Money in the colours of owners Wernham, Hogg and Taylor-Clarke.

Stars such as Glen Shiel, Tempus, Outbox and Spartan Arrow were all purchased relatively cheaply by Tom, too, and Prosewriter’s performance suggests he could have a bright future on the All-Weather and on turf.

Our double at Newcastle on 12th October was a memorable achievement as Moofeed became our first winner for ARM Racing since the sad passing of owner Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He left his Newbury debut well behind to dominate a six-furlong novice under Danny Tudhope.

On the same card it was great to see Valmont’s Siouxperb get back to winning ways in the feature sprint having finished a close second there under a penalty in novice company back in the summer. Connor Beasley produced the son of Sioux Nation with a powerful late run to make a winning All-Weather nursery debut off a mark of 86.

There was a winning debut for Francesca Poste’s Fille Etoile in a six-furlong Wolverhampton maiden at the beginning of the month. The daughter of Starman followed in the hoofprints of her dam Avenue Montaigne by becoming an All-Weather winner.

She overcame her greenness to score by a head under Billy Loughnane in a month that saw our stable jockey Hollie Doyle return to the saddle after being sidelined for five months with a broken left leg. It was great to welcome Hollie back riding out at Iveagh and even more satisfying to see her ride a winner at the first attempt at Southwell.
